John McEnroe made recent headlines when he publicly revealed whom he would vote for between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump in the upcoming U.S. election. According to the seven-time Grand Slam champion, it is slim pickings no matter how you perceive it.
‘For me these options are not the best you could have but for the situation in general I will vote for Hillary Clinton, even if Trump has better golf courts,’ McEnroe told Mundo Deportivo (h/t tennisworldusa).
McEnroe, who won the US Open on four occasions, is a registered democrat who was highly critical of the Bush administration, and favoured more rigid legislation regarding gun control in the United States.
Back in 2015, McEnroe even suggested that Serena Williams run for president in the future.
“I would have thought that a woman would have become president before a black man,” McEnroe told the BBC. “What I think is frustrating for Americans is that it feels like more was going to change with Obama. So maybe we need a black woman – maybe we get Serena to run.”
